Lash Extensions By Gale At Brilliant Lashes

Lash Extensions By Gale At Brilliant Lashes

Holy cow, why did I wait so long to hop on the bandwagon! I think it was the pricing at first, however now that the craze has died down and can be handled than more than one local establishment pricing becomes more than affordable! Working at this new salon has linked me with a few new connections. My most recent find is Gale at Brilliant Lashes located in Chantilly Virginia.

I arrived at her house and she had a secluded room off to the side that was made into a spa room for lashes and other treatments! She played music for the two hours I laid there while she applied an individual lash extension on each lash… it’s really unbelievable how perfect she applies each one perfectly.

I have a pretty nice lash texture, they tend to be pretty thick and straight. However when you see yourself with longer more black lashes, it really opens the eye up and allows for you to leave the house with little to no makeup on… its amazing.

va vaaaa voooooommmmmmm

Gales Full Set $99

Fill $50

Cheers !

Back-shadow Blondes

Back-shadow Blondes

So, I love being blonde….realllly blonde… but during the winter its nice to have a change. So I decided to jump on bored with the new trend of back shadowing. I love this salon here in Northern Virginia called Maude its located in downtown Herndon. They have some skilled ladies working there. My stylist was Tina she stays up to date with the newest trends so she was excited to transform my old color into something fantastic! Naturally I showed her a picture off everyones favorite site Pinterest 🙂

I love the shades of blonde throughout her hair.

Here is a picture of my hair with the roots.! The dark line was driving me nuts… I needed to have my natural color pulled through for a more natural grow out ( Just for the winter)

Her strategy is confidential…… not really I just didn’t want to look vein by taking pictures while she was foiling…I do know that she like to foil out some sections and then tease lightly at the root and the apply the color throughout the strands.

She nailed it.

I’m so excited about my new Nars cosmetics I just received! Its so hard to find the perfect foundation for your skin and I think I have just found it! I have pretty smooth and clear skin but its can get pretty pink and blotchy especially in the winter so I decided to try the Sheet Glow Foundation Monte Blanc by Nars- Its truly a perfect match for my creamy complexion!

I also surged and purchased a couple more items like the Dolce Vita blush 🙂 its a perfect color for the winter.

And of course I needed to try their bronzer Laguna its a fairly lighter bronzer compared to their casino bronzer and can be layered to create a darker contour.

To top it off I bought the pppppeeerrrrfect highligher Albatross! Im obsessed with Beccas Moonstone.. however I think I stumbled onto something better- It stays on for hours.

The finished look!

Beautiful Soap

Beautiful Soap

So making soap is one of the crafts my mom and I love to do together!

Check out some of these beautiful Soaps! We have them available for sale on Poshmark under my name Madison Hornsby.

We love to add coconut oil for extra moisture.

Yes, the quality of your oils matter.

And so do the flowers, we grow organic nastursiams to add for color.

We added calendula to the more masculine soap.

Then we added cornflowers to the lavender soap along with some beet extract for color.

For the olive oil soap with added the nasturtiums.

Of course you have to have a peppermint oatmeal scrub!

Peppermint oatmeal soap with nasturtiums 🙂

The whole gang.

We love our beautiful soaps!

New Years Bridal Trial

New Years Bridal Trial

How about planning the biggest night of your life on New Years! A wedding is a great way to celebrate your new life in the new year with all of your closest friends and family.

For a night like this you have to keep it classy by doing a very elegant up style and a classic red lip!

We started off by prepping her hair in 1 1/2 inch sections all over the head.

Then while the hair cools down into form I started to apply her makeup.

We did a fun cat eye liner and light smokey eye :)….. with a touch of highlighter and of course the red lip.

Oh don’t forget the individual lashes!

After pulling the pins out of the hair I gave the hair a nice brush to give it that fluffy finished look. I then sectioned off the back of the head and pinned the remaining parts up.

I put a tiny pony at the base of the hair and teased the pony so that I could wrap it up into a chignon base.

I started to take the three sections above one at a time and brushing those sections, to see how the curl would fall. I then separated that one section into two sections and pinned them.

Again I repeated the process.

And again…. however this time I allowed for some volume at the top of the head.

This is what were left with. You and your client have to decided what  you want the front to look like, my client and I decided on a very simple pulled back look.

That seemed to look the best.

The finished look!

Mirror shot!

We lifted the bang just a little to give it a touch of volume.

I can’t wait to see her wedding pictures!!!!!

October Birchbox💋💄

October Birchbox💋💄

I’m a true believer in treating yourself! I like to treat myself at least two times a month… I know, but I really look forward to my Birchbox and my Ipsy.

My October Birchbox finally came and it was worth the wait.

So first off they sent me a travel size Davines Love shampoo 🙂 I know from working in a salon for eight years that this product alone costs about $10.50 so thats more than the cost of the whole Birchbox itself. I love travel items I keep them all in a box under my sink and when I travel I practically get to shop again and pick what I need to take with me!

The also sent a Stila mascara- I’m picky when it comes to mascara.. and nothing is making me happy these days so I always apply individual lashes.. to me that is more satisfying. However I’m very excited to try this one out and I would have except I’m wearing falsies right now and I wouldn’t be able to give you an accurate review.

I have never heard of the line English Laundry but I’m verrrrryyyyy curious! I tried the perfume and its very rich and sexy.. I think it would compliment an evening dress very nicely.  The creme highlighter they sent has a very nice texture and a light translucent sheen to it. Lately I have been applying for pro discount with different lines to check out different products and this one might go on the list!

So when I looked up this product in full size its very expensive and the reviews are fabulous. Who dosent love anti aging products???!! I can’t wait to wash my face tonight and give it a try.

Enjoy 💋

Rainbow Snap Chat

Rainbow Snap Chat

So my Monday-Friday job I nanny for a family when i’m not doing weddings on the weekends 🙂

The older child that I kinda watch wanted to do that crazy rainbow snapchat thing, so here goes it 🙂

  1. Apply pink blush to the cheeks and nose then add the white paint under the lip (I also padded white eyeshadow to the white paint)

2. Line with black paint or liquid eye liner to the white and the top of the lid. ( We did not have two sets of lashes so I improvised and drew in the lashes on the bottom)

3. Have fun with this… you don’t have to be exact.

4. Start drawing lines dow the face in different color paints- she wanted the rainbow in this exact order but you can do anything you want. ( Grab a cheap white shirt at Michaels so you can apply the paint to the shirt to! )

5. We added some fun white sparkles! ( She let me fill in her eyebrows  with dark brown paint for a more cartoony look)

This was a lot of fun! I wish we were more prepared for this activity but I think for a last minute look it was perfect for her middle school dance 🙂

Don’t get sick!- Homemade Thieves Oil!- Carol Reilly

Don’t get sick!- Homemade Thieves Oil!- Carol Reilly

History- Grave robbers used this during the black plague when they robbed sites of victims that were contaminated.

Mom mom loves to make holistic remedies and elixers for different things.

  1. Witch Hazel (You can pick a scent, we chose lavender)
  2. Clove Oil
  3. Medieval Oil
  4. Water

Mix equal parts of water and witch hazel, then add your oils- I would say 10 to 15 drops of each oil.

Our spray turned out to smell wonderful and not to overpowering!

Hope this helps prevent sickness!
